Rutland Water – Autumn Dawn

Rutland Water in Autumn

Rutland in the autumn is one of my favourite times of the year. And it’s not surprising when you see views like this.  I took this photo as the sun was rising over Rutland Water this morning. Apart from the spectacular scenery, why else do I love autumn in Rutland? The reservoir is quieter than the summer season… a walk/ run/ bike  from the cottage may find you not seeing another person. Yet all the facilities such as Rutland Cycling, Rutland  Sailing Club, Rutland Water Fishing Lodge and Rutland Water Nature Reserve which are all near to the cottage are all open. The shops in the market towns of Oakham, Uppingham and Stamford, which are all within 8 miles of the cottage, are busy preparing for Christmas and the weekly markets are bustling. And of course as the nights draw in, you can curl up in front of the real open log fire at the end of the day! Perfect!

If you are looking to visit Rutland and are looking for a self-catering holiday cottage, then Puddle Cottage could be for you. The cottage has been awarded its 4 star award for self-catering by Quality in Tourism, and has one bedroom which can be presented either as one super king size bed or two full size single beds. The cottage also welcomes well behaved dogs and there are many fantastic walks locally. For more details please contact Anna on 07734175291 or e/mail enquiries@puddle-cottage.co.uk.
