The best table in town?

The best table in town?

With the mini heatwave due to hit Rutland any day, one common question people ask if whether BBQ’s are allowed at Rutland Water. And who can blame anyone for wanting to get surely the best table in area, and cooking and having dinner overlooking Rutland Water. The picture I’ve put on the blog is a picture I took last October (and what a treat in October – warm weather, no-one around and a gorgeous sunset!). The picture was taken just by Normanton Church which is within walking distance of Puddle Cottage.

So if you are wondering whether you can BBQ at Rutland Water, the answer is YES! BBQ’s are permitted at Rutland Water, they must however be raised off the ground. While we choose to just wander to the shores of Rutland Water with our BBQ and picnic, there are also dedicated BBQ stands at the car parks at Whitwell, Barnsdale, Normanton and Sykes Lane which are free to use.

One of the benefits of Puddle Cottage is its location – just a short walk from the south shore of Rutland Water including Rutland Sailing Club and Rutland Water Fishing Lodge. Puddle Cottage also has the benefits of being near Oakham, Stamford and Uppingham , all of which are within 8 miles of Edith Weston. So if you are looking for accommodation near Rutland Water then please get in touch. The cottage is 4 star self-catering cottage, with one bedroom which can be presented with either a super-king sized bed or two full sized single beds. The cottage was built in 1849 but has been recently renovated to provide all the comfort you would expect. The cottage also welcomes well behaved dogs.
