The Dairy Barn Café

The Dairy Barn Café

What a summer we are having! There is no sign of the warm, dry weather coming to an end just yet. Thankfully the thick stone walls and the flagstone floor downstairs are keeping guests nice and cool.

We stumbled across The Diary Barn Café last week which was the perfect stop in the heatwave.

As well as serving breakfasts, light lunches and snacks they also sell their famous (and very own) Ferneley’s dairy ice cream. They use their own milk from their own herd of predominantly Friesian cows which are farmed on their family farm near Leesthorpe. This milk is the main ingredient in Ferneley’s Ice Cream which creates a luxury, dairy ice cream.

There are about 20 flavours of ice cream at in the cafe, with popular choices including raspberry ripple, salted caramel and mint chocolate as well are more exotic flavours like nutty-ella and lemon meringue.

The ice cream is created on site at their our purpose built Ice Cream Kitchen. You can even watch the ice cream being made through the viewing window in The Dairy Barn Café.

Dogs are welcome in their dog friendly areas, such as the large patio at the front of the café. Cyclists are also very welcome and there is a dedicated bicycle park clearly visible from café. There is fresh water available for both dogs and cyclists!

There is a sports field, toddlers play area, sand pit and climbing frame which are all in close proximity to the café so that the grown-ups can keep an eye on the little ones while having a natter and a latte (and probably an ice cream too!)

The café is situated close to route 64 on the national cycle way, and there are many footpaths in the surrounding areas that pass in close proximity to The Dairy Barn Café so the café makes the ideal starting point for a lovely circular cycle or walk in the Leicestershire countryside.
