Burghley Horse Trials Welcomes Olympic Riders!

With 21 days and 21 hours to go until this year’s Burghley Horse Trials starts (!) the excitement for the event is really building. Watching Team GB perform so well in the equestrian events in the 2012 Olympics over the past week has been a real joy and the fact that some of the Team GB equestrian team will be at Burghley Horse Trials this year will surely make it a year to remember.

British Olympic team silver medallists Kristina Cook, Mary King and William Fox-Pitt head the list of entries for this year’s Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. London 2012 Olympians from other countries are also included in this year’s entry list. New Zealanders Mark Todd, Andrew Nicholson, Jonathan Paget and Caroline Powell, Australian Christopher Burton, Germany’s Dirk Schrade and Ireland’s Mark Kyle will all be in contention for the Land Rover Perpetual Challenge Trophy and a first prize of £55,000 – the next best thing to a gold, silver or bronze medal.

Puddle Cottage is situated in Edith Weston and is just a short walk to South shore of Rutland Water and is less than 10 miles away from Burghley House as well as being just 8 miles from the market towns of Oakham, Uppingham and Stamford. Having been built in 1849 and recently renovated, the one bedroom cottage has the charm of a cottage with the benefits of all the mod cons you would expect such as a large flat screen TV with DVD player and Freeview, as well as free WIFI. Puddle Cottage has one large bedroom which can be presented as one super-king size bed or two full sized single beds. There is also a sofa bed in the living room to accommodate a further 2 people if required. The cottage also welcomes well behaved dogs.
